Ed West and his wife, Gwen, are founding members of Crossroads Community Church. The few families that eventually formed the church in 1990, first met in their home.
Ed is a graduate of The Citadel and has a medical degree from The Medical University of South Carolina. He has practiced nearly forty years in pediatrics in the North Charleston-Summerville area and is now retired.
At Crossroads, Ed is a Bible teacher and is sought after as a scriptural counselor. He is an elder and trustee. He and Gwen have been active teachers in the congregation since its beginning, especially in the area of parenting. Ed teaches an on-going course titled Parents Under Construction, which is based on scriptural truths and techniques used by “the perfect parent,” our heavenly Father.
Ed and Gwen have made numerous overseas mission trips, including trips to China, Ecuador and Malta. They have traveled to Uganda in support of rural churches there, teaching family life and church unity principles to pastors and bishops who attended from surrounding African countries of Kenya, Rwanda, Congo, and Burundi.
They are also active in landscaping Crossroads church property, and with help from their Crossroads family, they built and maintain the Prayer Garden located near the entrance of the church campus.
Ed says that the most important work he and Gwen have accomplished in their lives is raising their two daughters, Alice and Julie. Ed and Gwen have five grandchildren.
