Prayed for 2 times.

Ash & Risa Miller (Japan)

We are looking at things a little differently the past few days, and this is what we have come to realize. We came here almost two and half years ago for the Kingdom. While I have been able to do some things, I am quite restless knowing I can do much more. We have been praying, and we’ve asked you to pray, for God to open a door for us and to bring me a partner. Right now, in Nagano, is a group of people who want our help, and one man in particular who wants to work side by side with me. And he speaks pretty good English. So, it sure seems like God is answering our prayers, doesn’t it? Should we be surprised?

We believe we need to trust the Lord and go ahead and move before school starts even if Risa doesn't have a job. Why should we wait? Hasn’t God always provided more than we need? Please continue to pray for us that we would do the right thing and trust him, and that he will provide everything we need, including an understanding of his will, a job for Risa, and the ability to abide in him.

Earl & Robin Pinkston (Malta)

  • We were surprised and saddened to learn that one of our neighbors was taken to hospital and died two days ago. He had family, but they were estranged so it was quite sad. We know he heard the gospel on numerous occasions and attended church meals with us, so we pray that he accepted Christ’s grace at some point.
  • I had some very real but interesting talks with people at the grant meeting, including an LGBT activist and a Dutch professor.
  • It’s so sad when people do not know Jesus and their lives are just a mess and yet they still do not want to turn to Him.

Andy & Keeky Smith (Bavuma Islands)

This is a longer letter from Andy & Keeky - take time to read this exciting report!

However exciting it is to see people healed and demons cast out, Jesus told His disciples, “Rejoice rather, that your names are written down in heaven!” Lk. 10:20

This last month, as you were praying, God was healing, freeing, and saving!

Pr. Samson led a team preaching the Good News of salvation in the islands of Dolwe and Bumba. 120 publicly confessed Jesus Christ as Lord! Praise God!!! He also healed many from diseases and demons.

American Marathon team-leader Melanie said, “In Bumba, I was shocked to see many small children, 4-5 yrs old, terrorized by demons. It made me angry that Satan would abuse such young ones. After the children were delivered, we looked for their parents. Some parents brushed it off, like a nuisance in their day.” But one father Andy talked with openly confessed, “I know why this has happened in my family. I used to walk with Jesus, but recently I stopped.” After counseling, Andy, Pastor Jimmy, and the family’s local pastor, led this man and his family in prayer, re-dedicating their lives to Christ. (For more on Marathon Missions International, visit their Facebook page.)

Before the week began, Pr. Samson shared,

“After our first crusade on Dolwe Island in 2016, our team went to pray over the altars being used for human sacrifice. Shortly after, the Ugandan military arrived and took over that side of the island, refusing access to the altars. God broke down a huge demonic stronghold!”

Meanwhile, Papa and Mama O crossed Lake Kyoga in NW Uganda to minister to families in Nakasoongola. “There has been a severe drought.” Mama O explained, “The only food we ate was sweet potatoes. For us, every day seemed to last a week! Yet the people sat on the ground as we finished each evening, begging us to continue. They said, ‘We never knew to teach our children, or even to pray for them! We just blame them when they do wrong.’”

While the Good News was being proclaimed to crowds in Dolwe and Bumba, and families were being restored in Nakasoongola, over 100 teenagers gathered in Lingira for Youth Camp. SHIM members Richard and Prossy, Ruthie, Justus, island teacher Owere, and visitor Leona, organized a fantastic week of prayer, discipleship, and games. While the boys learned to make soap out of ashes, girls crafted dollies from socks (at right), and made themselves reusable sanitary pads. From our home ¼ mile away, I could hear the children praying and singing during worship, and shouting in sports!

One young lady, Zaina, was among the 12 who gave their hearts to Jesus. God also delivered her from demons. However, when Pr. Waboka visited her home, her parents were not pleased. Three times, with increasing intensity, they asked her, “Are you going to follow salvation?”

“Yes. I am saved.” Zaina consistently replied.

“Fine. If you persist, we will call a clan meeting to decide what we shall do with you!” they threatened.

As you have prayed with us through this month, please continue to pray for the many children and adults who, like Zaina, were brought out of darkness into light. Pray for their families. Pray for the believers around to welcome them into the family of God!
