This next Sunday I will present the seven recently selected members of our Pastor Search Team. With your assistance and prayers, and the influence of our church staff, elders, and associated Baptist leadership, they will direct the process of selecting and presenting our next Pastor. Surely you know the significance of their deliberation and the importance of our prayers as they guide us. Please pray for them without ceasing as they are trained and prepared for such a blessed assignment. In my heart, I know our Gracious Father will lead them to the minister/servant he has chosen to be our next spiritual leader. They are Ann Almers, Steven Brice-Nash, Abby Brice-Nash, Pat Carter, Scott Courtney, Rochelle Saxon, and Gary Weber. Please begin to lift them up right now.
On Sunday, we will also share in the Ordinance of the Lord’s Supper. This is always a very profound expression of our faith and remembrance of Christ’s provision for us. I am convicted of my need for personal preparation prior to gather around the Lord’s table as a family of faith. The Apostle Paul reminded the Corinthian believers of the powerful witness of the symbols of Christ’s blood and body. “For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes” (1 Corinthians 11: 23-26, ESV). It is one way we proclaim his death until he comes again. Glory.
In the weeks ahead our elders will be presenting church members to serve together on the By-Laws Committee. This is an important element of our church life, a broad direction in the organization and functioning of Christ’s church. We must always remember that there is no authority greater than Scripture in defining the church’s mission. There are, however, procedural specifics that give us guidance in fulfilling our responsibilities as a registered organization. Please begin to pray over this process as well.
Serving you is a joyous blessing. Thank you. Your prayers during our recent Covid experience brought us great comfort and strength. We are grateful to serve you in these significant times.
