Growing up in Greenville, SC, our neighborhood pals always greeted each other with the question, “What’s the deal?’ Translated, it meant, “What’s happening?” So, when Harriet and I married in 1973, 47+ years ago, I would ask her every morning, “What’s the deal?” She didn’t understand the question. She was thinking about the deal in a card game, or a special price in the dress department. So, eventually, I had to explain my meaning, and then say, “Here’s the deal…”.
So, Crossroads Community Church family, here’s the deal! This Friday, May 1, 2020, I will officially become your interim pastor. Our Elders have graciously extended a call for me to serve in this capacity until the church calls a new full-time pastor. In that role I will preach and teach, administer the mission of the church with the church staff and Elders, fulfill the pastoral needs of the church family, and lead our ministry teams in evaluation, planning, and a vision process. Your prayers will always be appreciated.
The Covid-19 restrictions will hinder our getting to know each other in some ways. However, my contact information will be published on the church web site and other venues. Please contact me as you experience special needs. Prayerfully, the quarantine and stay-at-home orders will be lifted and we can resume a normal church life soon.
Harriet and I are thrilled about this new chapter in our forty-year ministry. Please plan to join us live every Sunday morning, and in the many other church functions and ministries that are continuing even in these unusual times.
With the Apostle Paul, please know this---
For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers…
Ephesians 1: 15-16, ESV
God bless you and be with you.
On Sunday, May 24th at 9:00am we will gather again for an in-person service. This will be in addition to streaming our service on Facebook and our website.
Watch your inbox, our website, and Facebook for important details about our gradual re-entry plan coming by the end of this week.
At Crossroads, we want you to know that we take your health and safety very seriously. We are making decisions and creating new policies based on the recommendations of health officials and our government.
