Bob & Janice Stuck (AVANT)

We would appreciate prayer for the following:

  • A new field leadership structure was put in place after the merge with Camino Global. Bob's title is now Ministry Director Americas. Pray that as a group we will have unity and likemindedness as we lead our areas.
  • Pray for Janice as she teaches during Avant Go February 7 -13. Avant has 11 missionaries close to deployment.
  • In December, Bob's followup scan showed that cancer has returned in the form of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. This was hard news to hear, yet we are confident in God's ability to care for us. We are thankful for the support and care our Avant family is showing us. Bob will not be able to travel for at least 6 months, but he will continue to support and serve our missionaries via email & Skype.
  • Amidst this challenging season we want to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. We want to know Him deeply and serve Him faithfully.

SHIM January Ministry Events: January 2020 is already exploding with ministry on the Buvuma Islands! Justus and Gert-Jan are leading Pastor’s Training on Lingira Island this week! The child development team is preparing students to start the new school year and to begin new job placements. Next week: Islands of Hope provides medical and spiritual care on Kibibi and Malijja islands. The end of the month, Richard and Prossie Kasanka host another amazing youth camp on Lingira, together with SHIM and LLHSS members and a team from the States. They are praying for 250 teenagers this year! At the same time, Pastor Samson and Marathon Mission International are running an outdoor crusade and seminar near Mbale, eastern Uganda.

Ash & Risa Miller (Japan)

We hope all of you enjoyed your holiday season and were able to rejoice in celebrating that we have a God that was willing to set aside his amazing glory and become like us. What a perfect demonstration of love, humility, and sacrifice. May we all embrace the work that he began two millennia ago and handed over to us. May we take the gospel of the kingdom to all men that they may know the one who created them, the savior who became one of them to bring them back into the family of Almighty God.

We enjoyed our winter break by watching several Christmas movies, eating a lot of yummy treats, and participating in activities at church. One common Japanese tradition is making omochi (Japanese rice cakes) as part of celebrating the New Year. Our church here does this every year...very yummy!

A few things we are thankful for as we look back on this past year: That we are all healthy and alive, For all your prayers, encouragement and support over the last year, For the ministry that God has given us and the opportunities to bless others in the name of Christ,

That Risa has a good job that allows us to be here and do what we are doing, and God’s endless grace (because I really need it). And looking forward to the year ahead, please continue to pray that we would be able to:

Continue teaching the Bible, Expand our ministry in a way that would not take away from our other responsibilities at home, and Encourage others to focus more on the task of taking the gospel to the lost.

Praise: Sober another week. It’s been about 5 months since my last episode. Praise him! I’m going to turn in my papers for retirement in August. Your prayers helped provide confirmation and peace. Shout praise to our God! As we move through the retirement process may God give us vision, wisdom, understanding, and strength to take next steps.

Thank you!

Praise: Happy New Year! Thank you for faithfully praying for us in need. Kept sober all during the holiday season! Thankful to have been with two of our three daughters! Our third daughter, Mallory continues to be in Dubai. Your prayers landed a job as the bar manager at a Japanese restaurant. Thank you. She’s legally in the country, is earning a salary, and will have medical benefits. We’re so grateful for your prayers for us.

Colleen and I are considering retirement this year. May God give us vision, wisdom, understanding, and strength. May we have time to prepare and begin taking the necessary next steps.

Geary was a hospice patient where I volunteer. He would like to get baptized so I hope God grants us this opportunity.

Earl & Robin Pinkston (Malta)

Last week we met a lady who is fighting cancer and has three children in the refugee camp here in Malta. Pray for her as we reach out to her and as she is in the hospital for at least another seven weeks.

We are applying for our visas this week. We've been here 21 years so there should not be a problem but we appreciate prayers that they will be accepted and granted.
